As we live in a culturally diverse society and come into contact with people from all different backgrounds, it is important to understand that no two people are the same.

Everyone needs to take equality and diversity seriously and this course intends to challenge thoughts processes and attitudes. By understanding and embracing diversity an inclusive environment can be created.

This Equality & Diversity Awareness programme has been designed to raise awareness of some of the key issues surrounding this topic and a second programme is available which extends the thought processes to include the application of equality and diversity into work and community settings.

Course Content

What will be explored is:

  • Personal and social identities are explained and the way in which these are formed.
  • How personal identities can influence an individual’s attitudes, beliefs and values are explored.
  • Prejudice and discrimination are considered and the concepts and misconceptions that can often underpin them both.
  • Issues of inequality in the UK today.
