  • 1.3 million working people suffering from a work-related illness
  • 137 workers killed at work
  • 609,000 injuries occurred at work according to the Labour Force Survey
  • 70,116 injuries to employees reported under RIDDOR
  • 31.2 million working days lost due to work-related illness and workplace injury

The mistake of course is to believe that these things happen in highly unusual or exceptional circumstances and that these never occur in "your workplace", which is not necessarily the case and often, it is just some basic thinking and acting beforehand that can usually prevent issues or incidents from happening.
