Individuals of all ages may find that their body’s immune system reacts in response to something that it believes may be a ‘threat’. Although some people may be aware of allergens that could cause their body to ‘react’, others may respond to an allergen for the first time (an isolated incident) such as an insect bite or sting, which causes them to experience an allergic reaction or anaphylactic shock.

This short course therefore offers information to those who may benefit from a greater understanding of allergic reactions and anaphylaxis, whether that might be to help them to support others (should a situation arise) or to offer greater understanding of their own reactions to pre-existing intolerances.
