How Safe is my Data?
It’s a fair question and one we are often asked! The security of our client’s data is paramount to Red Rock, which is why all of our servers are housed in a state-of-the-art data centre, directly connected to an Internet backbone. This enables us to provide highly reliable, secure and efficient data storage which is continually monitored, both electronically and physically, by trained technicians and security staff.
In technical terms, our Network Operations Centre (NOC) is served by two separate high-speed OC-48-capable fibre optic connections and uses multiple Tier 1 Internet backbone providers. The facility is fitted with waterless fire suppression systems, UPS (uninterruptible power supplies) and back-up generators, as well as environmental controls. The NOC is continuously monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
And now for the less technically-minded amongst us! What this means for your business is that all of your data is safe and secure, even in the event of fire or a power failure. It is also backed up on a rotating basis, both onsite and offsite, every 24 hours, with transaction logging to ensure that all information is recoverable in the highly unlikely event of system failure.
Our systems have what is known as ‘multiple redundancy’ built in. This means that if one part fails, another is immediately available to take over, and our ‘hot swapping’ technology means that any faulty parts can be replaced immediately, without having to switching off the power. So you can have access to your data at any time! All data is stored on the latest Microsoft SQL 2008 Servers, and these are on physically different machines to our website servers. Both are also backed up daily to onsite and offsite storage, so you can be assured that all data relating to your use of the Red Rock website is always protected and available, with a complete audit trail from the very first time you log in.
